Harbor Freight: Quality Tools At Bargain Basement Prices

Harbor Freight sells high quality tools at bargain basement prices.

If I have said it once, I have said it a million times, “When buying tools, buy the highest quality tools that your budget will permit.” The trick in doing that is to pay for quality tools and not to pay extra for a name. When I was in the auto repair business, many customers prejudged the quality of the work a shop did by the name that appeared on a mechanics hand tools. A mechanic that owned Snap On or Mac hand tools were considered professionals while a mechanic that had tools with Craftsman, a Sears Brand, stamped on them was considered less professional. Little did those customers suspect that Snap On made Craftsman Tools for Sears. So, unless, you are into playing the name game you can buy the same high quality tools for less than half what you would pay for Snap ON, Mac or even Craftsman. You will even get the same lifetime warranty. How can I do that, you ask? You can do that by shopping at Harbor Freight.

A family owned and operated business since 1968.

Harbor Freight opened their first store 43 years with a mission. Their mission was to provide the workingman with the highest quality tools possible at a price that they could afford. Harbor Freight held to that mission as that first store grew into a chain of retail stores that span the nation from coast to coast. With over 7,000 items in stock and 10,000,000 satisfied customers, Harbor Freight has become the tradesman's one stop source for hand tools and power tools. I have been one of those 10,000,000 satisfied customers for well over 10 years now.

A lifetime, no questions asked guarantee on all hand tools.

As a young mechanic, stock car builder and stock car driver, I bought nothing but Mac tools. Then an old timer turned me onto the fact that the Sears Craftsman line of hand tools was made by Snap On Tools. That was when I switched from buying Mac tools almost exclusively to buying Craftsman tools almost exclusively. I was genuinely impressed by their no questions asked lifetime guarantee. I saw it in action on several occasions. Harbor Freight goes one better. Buy anything from Harbor Freight and you can return it within thirty days if you are dissatisfied with it for any reason. They will give you store credit for the amount you paid for the tool.

No frills, just quality hand and power tools.

The hand tools, power tools and shop equipment sold by Harbor Freight may not look as pretty as those sold by Mac, Snap On or Sears, but they are every bit as reliable. If you are like me, you buy a tool for the work it can do, not for the way it looks. One of the first power tools that I ever bought from Harbor Freight was a reciprocating saw. I paid $39 and change for that saw. The same saw from Craftsman would have cost me $90 and change. That saw is still doing what I bought it to do ten years ago. Outside of replacing the brushes from time to time, I have never had a bit of trouble with it. Harbor freight will sell you an extended warranty on power tools and will repair or replace it during the warranty period with no questions asked. Just in case you are wondering, no I do not own any stock in the company, but I wish that I did.

Great store Jerry, I wish we have store like this one here, like/tweet/stumbled

Very useful information Jerry. I have cut out many fliers from this store and actually have one close by but have never set foot in the store because I felt that a store that sold tools at those prices had to be selling garbage made in China. (Especially the power tools) With your reference I will definitely reconsider.

Paul, Harbor Freight really does care about keeping their customer's good will and they honor their n questions asked guarantee of satisfactions. I once returned a spot light that had been damaged internally during shipping. I had bought it online and had it shipped to my shop but I took it to one of their brick and mortar retail stores. They never took it out of the box to look at it, they just gave me a new one off their shelf. In ten years, I have returned three products to them for one reason or another and I have always received the same response, they gave me a brand new one. I love that store.

My DH used to buy from Harbor Freight quite a bit, I have forwarded your story to his email, I know he will find it useful. Stumbled, buzzed and tweeted
